PLOT 001: THREAD ONE!Ø Smoke had burned the nostrils of many an unfortunate citizen and now, at five and a half o' clock in that sunny afternoon, it seemed to be reaching everyone's olfactory glands quicker than gossip could reach the eardrums. Town Hall's grand old bell was ringing, but what was worse was the rising line of deep, ashen smoke that was coming from the place where the court house should have stood. A crime committed, no doubt! But by whom, and for what?!
Ø That was for whatever fortunate soul could figure out, but for now, there was no one to help that poor building, not even the judges and attorneys that worked there. The court had closed up shop, as the monotonous hearings of Afterglow could only be palatable up to a certain early-in-the-afternoon hour. And the flames, now, were whipping up along the sides of that lovely courthouse. Something had to be done! There had to be a hose about, and even if there were no fire engines in Afterglow, a fire was a fire, and it couldn't be left to burn away in this dry area.
Ø Though there were yet to be any screams, it seemed that interest was being piqued, and those few citizens in the square were either moving in a panic or attempting to offer their help. As some might have imagined, there were even some people trying to figure out how the fire had been lit as Afterglow's institute of justice began to burn to the ground! Quick quick, before that fire went out! Grab a bucket head to the nearest sink. Let us hope that those aged plimbing pipes don't fail us now!
Ø tags alumina greggory, jezebel sinclair, elijah carpenter, izack hazard, alphonse collins Ø detective goals put out the fire!, find out who did this! Ø press goals put out the fire!, keep an eye out for those hard-hitting reporter facts! Ø criminal goals put out the fire! OR help it burn to the ground!, keep out of the eyes of detectives and press! Ø note consider this a test run for mysteries and plots, and all those tagged in this post may post here. you may not see how this connects to the plot, but it will. and just keep the thread moving quickly. the staff won't post unless they're given reason to do so. if at any point you would like to request a plot twist for this thread, PM HERMES.

It was the sort of day, that set Alumina out feeling like it was going to be a slow week. So far, most of her cases were wrapped up, if not totally done. The amount of coffee she had chugged back that day was making her stomach toss about uncomfortably. She called back to whoever was still hanging around int he offices that she was packing it in for the day, that there wasn't much happening so there wasn't much of a need for her to be around any longer.
Hurrying back towards her home, there was an acrid smell hanging in her air. What the hell could there possibly be around that caused that smell? She wrinkled her nose, and then she heard it. The Town Hall's bells. Her stomach did another uneasy flip, but not one brought out of too much caffeine, much rather the idea of something bad going on. She raced around the corner, and she could see it then. A fire. A fire in the Town Hall.
Alumina scrambled forwards, finding that almost no one was doing anything. "Quick! Grab some buckets!" she cried. "We need to put the fire out!" she shouted. People seemed entranced, they couldn't look away from the fire. Her shouts seemed to shake a few housewives from their stupor, and they hurried to their homes, grabbing buckets from their laundry rooms, or bathrooms, and the owner of the hardware store was hurrying in people to start a chain, passing along the water buckets. Alumina couldn't see anyone familiar-faced, and she wished desperately that someone she knew would turn up.
It occurred to her that until the fire was put out ,there would be no clues to look for, so she hurried along to start pitching in.

The first thing he noticed was a burning smell coming through his way as he passed by the town hall. It was soon after that when he noticed that there was smoke, dark smoke coming from the judiciary building. No one needed that warning bell for what was obvious - the town hall was on fire. An applauded attempt, yes, although the criminal lacked some guts when he didn't decide to burn those judges and lawyers to a crisp.
Now, there was something Alphonse had to consider - what would he do? Sure, this act of crime was something that will benefit him - a burning town hall means a lack of law resources, and so his job as a tamperer would be at least a bit easier for the next few weeks. Then again, he always adored the challenge of every job he took, and the handicap could possibly change that. Besides, he was too near the scene - if he didn't help, he might be suspected.
"Quick! Grab some buckets!" The voice of a young girl broke through his train of thought. He looked for the source, and found someone scurrying about, helping to put out the fire. Her appearance struck a chord in Alphonse - he might not know her that well, but he did hear someone mention a new detective with a similar appearance... Well, that changes everything. Better go with the flow, and do the ordinary thing - help put the fire out.
A hose lay unforgotten, mostly through panic, and the young man took the opportunity to grab it and turn it on. Immediately a fountain of water burst through, and before he can completely drenched himself, Alphonse directed it towards the fire. "Was there anyone inside?" He shouted to no one in particular. Someone had to ring that bell, right?
It was weird, almost mad, for someone like him to help. But then again, this wasn't his or a client's doing, and even evil has its standards.
