ALPHONSE COLLINS
anecdote AND THE NIGHT OVER LONDON COMES TO STAY. ❙you may have seen him before - maybe as a student, walking around afterglow to find stories for their paper. maybe as a messenger for a well-known researcher. or perhaps just someone who just buts into every single case he walks upon, and plays detective in order to solve the mystery. he might seem like a nice and polite young man, but he is no ordinary passerby. he is, in fact, a tamperer - criminals hire him in order to modify the crime scene, erasing all evidence that points to the real culprit. he is part of afterglow's darker parts - a conman whose job is continue veiling crime in lies and shadow, even if it needs him to kill.
but there is more than it seems to this boy - he knows near nothing about the better parts of afterglow, raised to believe that what he has been doing is always right. he might just be a tool in a grander scheme... camaraderie BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP CAN BE QUITE HARD TO BREAK. ❙getting to like alphonse is actually quite easy. he tends to wander through most of afterglow, and seems to be the victim of the dulcinea effect - if he sees someone who needs help, he'll willingly give it to you. he does have his charms in the more proper population of the country, knowing how to do its customs and manners. many would, indeed, consider alphonse as a friend.
on the other hand, alphonse doesn't consider himself to have friends. all of it was an act, a facade, a trick to know other people and to make them trust him. alphonse's job requires him to falsely accuse some innocent citizen of murder or some other crime, and to make that execution perfect would require him to gather information - and socializing, for him, is gathering information. he might be a nice guy to talk to, but be warned - you're sure to be betrayed.
that doesn't mean that there is no hope for this young man. maybe he'll meet someone one day that he will actually consider as a friend - maybe someone who just touched his heart, or some other corny, romantic way that made alphonse actually care for the guy. to those people, he might actually show extreme loyalty to them, even though he will constantly deny it. affection HOW DOES LOVE FEEL, RISING FROM THE FLAMES? ❙alas, someone who doesn't even believe in friendship would find it near impossible to fall in love, especially if he has little trust over anyone ( except his father ). it would take a miracle for him to find himself in a romance. but still, go ahead and try, just brace yourself for a long, bumpy ride that may end in tragedy - alphonse's a criminal, after all.
there are no limitations, however, on whom alphonse may fall in love with - it can be a gril or guy who's younger or older than him. he would wonder, though, how would someone actually fall in love with him in the first place. and yes, alphonse couldn't initiate a relationship on his own - he's too oblivious to the entire concept. it might take more than a simple confession for reality to sink in on him.
oh, and no touching. you grope him, you die. nemesis KEEP YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER. A LOT MORE CLOSER. ❙enemies are to be expected for someone like alphonse - being in the shady business already makes him an enemy to detectives and policemen by default. but his opponents do not only consist of lawmakers and truth-seekers - he has broken many hearts and faiths along his way in life, and there will be people wanting to have his head. not all those he tricked ended up dead, and keeping them alive might be a mistake of his. there are also those who are wise enough to feel suspicion around him, and question his nature. for alphonse, anyone can be his enemy.
but this is a fact he has readily accepted. he hardly holds grudges - if you want to go against him, sure, go ahead. however, that will not have him show you mercy. his priority is survival, and he is not afraid to maim or kill anyone in the process. it's the way of life he has been used to all along these days. he's not afraid to bare his fangs.
there are, of course, times where he will be enraged - alphonse rarely holds grudges, but when he does, then may any divine being out there bless anyone who incurred his wrath. he will actively pursue those who have wronged him, and doom is almost certain when alphonse has finally met that person once more. he has been brought up believeing that revenge is the right thing - for him, it would be logical to make sure his enemies would pay for whatever they have done.
